Oh my God, stop whatever you’re doing and listen up. Relic Entertainment—yes, the Company of Heroes people—just decided to go full unhinged mad scientist and dropped a new game announcement: Earth vs. Mars. And y’all… this ain’t your grandpa’s strategy game.
Alright, so picture this: Martians have been abducting Earth’s finest specimens (humans, cows, squirrels, etc.) for years, harvesting their atomic essence (whatever the hell that means). Now? Full-scale alien invasion. And the only way to fight back?
The Splice-O-Tron.
Yes. The Splice-O-Tron.
This little piece of nightmare fuel lets you fuse animals and humans together into absolute war crime hybrids like:
Squirrel-Cow (??? Milk but make it chaotic???)
Human-Rhino (built like a tank, literally)
Cheetah-Fly (for when just being fast isn’t enough)
And that’s just what we know so far. God only knows what else they’re cooking.
Gameplay-wise, Relic is channeling Advance Wars—so, turn-based strategy, grid combat, and (presumably) tons of ways to ruin your friendships in multiplayer. The game comes packed with:
30+ mission campaign (save the Earth, no pressure)
Online multiplayer (yes, you can BE the aliens)
VS Mode (bully the AI until it cries)
Map Editor (because we need cursed battlefields)
So, why is Relic, the RTS powerhouse, making this chaotic little indie-sized mutant strategy game? CEO Justin Dowdeswell says:
“We’re still doing our big RTS thing, but also wanna get weird and experimental.”
And honestly? I respect it. If this is what their “creative juices” lead to, let them cook.
Relic says Earth vs. Mars drops this Summer on Steam, so if you don’t wanna be caught slippin’ when the aliens pull up, maybe go hit that wishlist button.
